Highly Shrinkable Objects as Obtained from 4D Printing

چکیده
4D printing of shape memory polymers enables the production thermoresponsive objects. In this contribution, a facile strategy is followed for an in-house synthesized thermoplastic poly(ether urethane). Processing by means fused filament fabrication, in which difference between nozzle temperature and material-specific glass transition polymer kept as low possible, allows to obtain highly shrinkable objects whose thermoresponsiveness can be precisely controlled. The effectiveness method also applies material polylactic acid. One possible application lies assembly purposes. As proof-of-concept, lightweight hands-free door openers healthcare applications are functionally simulated developed. Once printed, such devices shrink when heated fit on handles, allowing easy assembly. At end-of-use, heating-initiated disassembling mechanical recycling proposed. perspective, reuse materials contribute emergence circular economy functional materials.

Shape-morphing systems can be found in many areas, including smart textiles, autonomous robotics, biomedical devices, drug delivery and tissue engineering. The natural analogues of such systems are exemplified by nastic plant motions, where a variety of organs such as tendrils, bracts, leaves and flowers respond to environmental stimuli (such as humidity, light or touch) by varying internal tur...
متن کاملDirect 4D printing via active composite materials
We describe an approach to print composite polymers in high-resolution three-dimensional (3D) architectures that can be rapidly transformed to a new permanent configuration directly by heating. The permanent shape of a component results from the programmed time evolution of the printed shape upon heating via the design of the architecture and process parameters of a composite consisting of a gl...
متن کاملPattern Transformation of Heat-Shrinkable Polymer by Three-Dimensional (3D) Printing Technique
A significant challenge in conventional heat-shrinkable polymers is to produce controllable microstructures. Here we report that the polymer material fabricated by three-dimensional (3D) printing technique has a heat-shrinkable property, whose initial microstructure can undergo a spontaneous pattern transformation under heating. The underlying mechanism is revealed by evaluating internal strain...
متن کاملMultimaterial 4D Printing with Tailorable Shape Memory Polymers
We present a new 4D printing approach that can create high resolution (up to a few microns), multimaterial shape memory polymer (SMP) architectures. The approach is based on high resolution projection microstereolithography (PμSL) and uses a family of photo-curable methacrylate based copolymer networks. We designed the constituents and compositions to exhibit desired thermomechanical behavior (...
